Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Google Drive sync, streaming sources, and privacy.

How does sync work with Google Drive?
Kerlyss uses standard Google OAuth2 to communicate directly with an isolated app-data folder (drive.appdata) in your personal Google Drive account. Only your devices have access to this folder. Kerlyss has zero access to your personal files, photos, or emails, and we operate no central servers that could store or read your data.
Do I need a Spotify Premium or YouTube Music subscription?
No subscription is necessary. Kerlyss resolves Spotify playlist metadata through open endpoints and dynamically streams audio from public high-quality media sources in real time.
Where are downloaded audio files stored?
You have full control. Under Settings → Storage & Downloads, you can pick any folder on your device or PC. Files are saved as standard audio files with embedded ID3 metadata and high-resolution album artwork.
Can I use Kerlyss purely as an offline music player?
Yes! Kerlyss indexes your local device storage and plays FLAC, WAV, ALAC, MP3, and AAC files through its hardware audio pipeline without requiring an active internet connection.
Is Kerlyss completely free and open-source?
Yes, 100%. Kerlyss is licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 (GPL-3.0). The full source code is public on GitHub, with zero paywalls, zero ads, and zero subscriptions.
